Coach Long enters his 20th season of coaching Saints baseball. As a head coach from 2005-07 he guided the Saints Modified and JV teams to a combined record of 47-10 and has helped the Saints varsity record 20+ win seasons in 2008-2011 and 2014-2018. Coach Long was elected in November 2013 along side Coach Lambert into the NYS Baseball Hall of Fame. He comes from a true baseball family-- his grandfather was a barnstorming teammate of Babe Ruth in the 1920's, his father played 11 seasons in the Major Leagues participating in 3 World Series with the New York Yankees in the 1960's and was the starting 1st baseman for the National League in the 1956 All-Star game. Dale Long still holds the major league record with Don Mattingly and Ken Griffey Jr. for consecutive homeruns in games with 8. Coach Long was a Massachusetts State HS All-Star at St. Joseph's HS in 1966 and an All New England selection playing for Williston Academy in '67. He was a two-time Massachusetts State All-Star playing American Legion baseball for Williamstown in '66 & '67 and a 7 time All-Star in the Albany Twilight League form '68-'77. At Union College, Coach Long was a college division All-American in '70 & '71 and he played professionally for 2 years in the Florida State Rookie League before his career was cut short by injury. Coach Long lives in Wilton with his wife, Dr. Angela Condy ( a former SCC school board member & president), daughter Riley (a 2009 SCC graduate) and son Dale (a 2011 SCC graduate and Quinnipiac University Baseball Alumni).
